THE 2009 DANCING FOR THE ARTS GALA WAS A HUGE SUCCESS WITH $99,630 RAISED TO BUILD YOUR ARTS CENTER IN HARFORD COUNTY.

PATTI DRESHER DANCES AWAY WITH TWO AWARDS AT THE DANCING FOR THE ARTS FUNDRAISER.

Patti Dresher won the Judge’s Choice Award and Top Fundraiser Award at the 2nd Annual Dancing for the Arts Gala to benefit the Center for the Arts. She danced with Tom Rzepnicki, co-owner of Dancing with Friends, and wowed the judges with her interpretive dance. In addition, she won the Top Fundraiser Award by raising over $7,800 for the Center for the Arts.  Patti is a personal trainer at the Arena Club.

Clarisse Mechanic  1924 - 2009

The arts community has lost a wonderful friend with the passing of Clarisse Mechanic.  She was passionate about the arts and serving the needs of children.  Mrs. Mechanic and the Morris A. Mechanic Foundation supported the Center for the Arts in our efforts from the beginning to build an arts center in Harford County.  Quite simply, we would not be where we are today without her belief in our mission.  For this we are very grateful.

BETTY WARD NAMED HONORARY CHAIR OF THE 2009 DANCING FOR THE ARTS GALA

HARFORD COUNTY COUNCIL PRESENTS PROCLAMATION TO CENTER FOR THE ARTS

A proclamation was presented by Council President Boniface, on behalf of the Harford County Council, to Sallee Kunkel Filkins, Executive Director of the Center for the Arts, in recognition of the People's Choice Award to benefit the Center for the Arts.  Also present were County Executive David Craig, Claudia Holman and Betty Ward, all of whom were dance participants in Dancing for the Arts.

The first annual Dancing for the Arts Gala took place at Bulle Rock Residents' Club on November 22, 2008, where local celebrities performed with professional dancers to raise funds for the Center for the Arts.
